Electrical Inspection & Testing, or an EICR report, is one of the main ways you can know how safe your home or business electrics really are. For businesses, it is a duty placed on companies by the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. For homes, it is a vital document needed while either buying or selling a property, or fo making a claim for any type of insurance relating to it. All of our testing is to the current standards and regulations and we are approved contractors of the Electrical Contractors Association.
Commercial Test and Inspection
There are no statutory requirements covering frequency of testing, it has to be determined by a competent person taking into account such things as the severity of the environment and age of the installation. Our staff at MAW Electrical can carry out a full site survey to advise on a suitable schedule for test and inspection, provide a guaranteed price to carry out the work and provide a written report of the findings together with a price for any remedial work necessary.
Domestic/Buy to Let
There is no legal requirement for householders to have existing wiring checked but, particularly if you own an older property where the wiring has not been replaced recently, you may want an inspection for your own peace of mind. Our team members at MAW Electrical are happy to provide a free estimate of what such an inspection would cost, in many cases over the phone.
Landlords letting out property are also required by law to ensure the safety of people on their premises (there is an excellent explanation of this on the Landlordzone website here). The team at MAW Electrical can advise on what is required to comply with legislation and provide inspections at a time to suit you and at a competetive price.
